From "Demolished Thoughts" (2011) (Bonus track) +Invoking The Spirit of Independent Music+ Since his work with The Coachmen in 1979, Thurston Moore has been a quintessential archetype for true independent music and is one of few artists that has remained relevant and vital throughout his career never seeming to stray from his personal vision or sacrifice artistic integrity. Most famous for being a singer, songwriter, and guitarist for Sonic Youth, he has also done many guest spots on various albums, collaborations that are too numerous to list in their entirety, soundtrack and score work, and founded the Ecstatic Peace! label in 1981. Demolished Thoughts, which takes its name from "It's Time" by The Faith, is his first solo outing since 2007รข²s excellent Trees Outside The Academy and is released by Ecstatic Peace! in conjunction with Matador Records. The drifting, ethereal acoustic guitar of "Benediction" gets greatly augmented by Samara Lubelski's shivering violin which se! ems to anoint a lachrymose thanksgiving of a broken heart that wouldn't yield to the world. Mary Lattimore's transcendent, delicate harp pluckings on "Illuminine" splendidly add to a tale of kindred spirits that won't forget each other. An urgent whirlwind of sound occurs in "Circulation" as a symphonic skronkfest between Lattimore and Lubelski create a dissonance that destroys a malleable melody only to become a part of it.
